Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness—open-hearted, embodied and wise presence brought to the ever-changing moments of our lives—is a natural capacity in human beings. But without training, mindfulness is not our default. If we want to be awake and engaged for more of our short, miraculous lives, we need to cultivate new habits—waking up and staying awake, meeting each moment with openness and curiosity, and responding skillfully to life as it unfolds. This is entirely possible, and the practice of building our capacity for mindfulness offers benefits on every level—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The practices offer rewards that we can taste and enjoy from the very beginning.
I began practicing Insight Meditation in 1977, and have continued over the years, learning from many teachers in different styles, traditions and lineages, and in my own study and daily and retreat practice. I completed the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher training program at the Center for Mindfulness at the U Mass Medical School in Worcester, MA in 2015, and was certified as an Online MBSR teacher in 2020 through East Coast Mindfulness.
Individual and Group Instruction: I currently teach online programs in a medical setting, and am available to work with individuals and groups. If you’re interested in developing or deepening an individual mindfulness meditation practice, or are interested in bringing a short or longer program to a group, contact me.
Thursday Morning meditation group: I currently offer an open meditation group on Thursday mornings from 7 to 8 AM, year-round. This group has been meeting for at least 15 years—first in person at Living Yoga/Blossom Yoga in downtown Concord, and online since 2020. There is no cost to participate, and you can join by contacting me for information, or signing up on the Blossom Yoga and Wellness website at blossomyoganh.com and looking at the schedule for Thursday morning classes. All are welcome, and no experience is required.
